9th Commandment of Worship Songwriting

Let's look at the ninth commandment of worship songwriting:

"Bring something new to verse two".

So many writers break this rule. No matter how good your first verse and chorus were, if you don't move the story line forward, your audience has no reason to stay engaged.

So give them a reason!

Bring contrast, conflict, motion in time or space. But don't rehash the first verse or chorus.
